1 tsp vanilla extract
For the Creamsicle Frosting:
8 oz cream cheese (softened)
½ cup unsalted butter (softened)
3 cups powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tbsp orange zest
2 tbsp fresh orange juice
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line two 9-inch cake pans.
- Whisk dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt).
- Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time.
- Mix in orange zest, juice, and vanilla.
- Alternate adding dry ingredients and buttermilk, mixing until combined.
- Divide batter into pans and bake for 25-30 minutes. Let cool completely.
- Prepare frosting by beating cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, and orange zest.
- Frost the cooled cake, garnish with orange zest, and chill before serving.
